A very warm welcome to St Anthony’s Roman Catholic Primary School website. Our staff aim to create a rich learning environment where our values are promoted through all our relationships and within our curriculum. Our school values are Honesty, Endeavour, Aspiration, Respect, Responsibility and Forgiveness.

Our new school building was opened in 2010 and provides an excellent, modern environment in which our children can learn and achieve. Our school vision is, “To create a community of faith, love and learning, where everyone gives their best to ensure every learner becomes all they can be.”

Our website will keep you up to date with school activities, news and provide additional information about our classes and curriculum. I hope it gives you a flavour of the life and ethos of St Anthony's Primary School and that you enjoy browsing and finding out more about our wonderful school.

Transitions -  What can you do to help?

Be prepared -  It is useful for adults to emotionally prepare themselves for the "transition storm" that is about to begin. Put your seatbelt on and hold tight. The child needs you to be grounded.
Name it to tame it - Help the child to see the storm coming too. Say "the end of nursery/school year/primary school can be tricky, I'm here to help you through it."
Be crystal clear -  tell the children things they need to hear, don't wait for them to ask you because they don't know what they need.
Help their body -  Children feel fear in their body. Help them to calm their fears.
Stay connected -  Use "transitional objects" to let them know that you are connected, even when apart.

Remember that transitions are temporary. The transitional storm will come and it will go. Stick it out together and it will soon be over.
